May 2009 Ohio Mason Article...

Hello Brethren,
We will be having a One Day Reunion on May 5th at the first
stated in May for all Master
Masons raised at the Grand Masters Classes since 2002. We are
planning an "Order of the Rusty Nail" and a "Walk About the Lodge" as
a short refresher class on each of the degree's and to refamilarize
you with the Lodge. Making you more comfortable and willing to return
to the lodge on a regular basis. The event will be held at the
Blendon Temple in Westerville. Dinner starts at 6:15pm
and Lodge will open at 7pm. Ladies are always welcome to dine with
us. Come out and enjoy a nice and fun evening.

Brethren,
Due to a scheduling conflict the FC degree scheduled for Saturday
April 25th at the Ohio Village has been cancelled. Sunrise will still
be putting on the FC degree on Tuesday the 21st at our stated meeting.

Passing of Maurice A. Bontrager (January 27, 1928 - April 1, 2009)

Brethren,
It is with great sadness that I announce that WB Jimmie
Bontrager's father, Maurice A. Bontrager, passed away this morning in
Elkhart, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday,
April 3, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway,
Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 4,
2009 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made
to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook
Court, South Bend, IN 46635.

April 2009 Ohio Mason Article...

Hello Brethren, it's been a busy month!! We brought further Light to 2
Brethren in March, honored our 50, 60, and 65+ year members, and
closed the deal on a new home for Sunrise Lodge in Gahanna.
Our 50+ year awards night brought Sunrise a special visit from MWB
Murphy to present the awards to Bro. William Stelzer, 60 years, Bro.
Richard Crawford, 50 years and MWB Jack Allen, 50 years. Thank you
again Brethren for your years of service and dedication to the Craft
and a special Thank you to MWB Murphy for making the trip to visit us
on this special night.

Congratulations Brethren, Sunrise has a new home!  The final paperwork
was completed on March 20th thus closing the deal on the purchase of
the building that will soon become Sunrise's new home! Now the hard
work begins! The first meeting of the Building committee in the new
building took place just after the closing and plans began to come
together for getting the rehab work underway. The building committee
members are: WB Dave Percival, Chairman, WB Rick Boyce, WB Marty Nash,
WB Dan Dozer, Bro. Dave Chambers, Bro. P.K. Moore, and Bro. Bill
Fannin.  If you are a licensed and bonded individual, have your own
business, or work for a business that would be interested in bidding
on the various projects that will be needed to rehab the building

Of important note, please do not forget about our VA Hospital
Visitation on April 5th with Whitehall 761 and South Gate - Potter
782.  RWB P. Pat Davis is the chairman of this event. Please contact
him at (614)352-7819 or (614)855-1401 to volunteer. What a great
opportunity to come together and show these veterans how much we
appreciate all they have sacrificed for our great nation.  Details of
meeting on that day will be available from RWB Davis.  We look forward
to seeing you there!

From the East...

Greetings Brethren!
This update has been long in coming! Sunrise now has a new
building in Gahanna. The deal was completed on Feb 20th and the
building committee has already been diligently at work coming up with
a game plan and a floor design for the new building. We will begin
having a building status update at the stated meeting as needed to
keep everyone informed of the progress with the new building.

On Feb. 24th Bros. Jim DeMaria and Rick Souder received further
Light in Masonry as they received their Fellow Craft Degree.
